The Q2 2024 report highlights a 21.07% surge in exploit activity compared to Q1. Moreover, ransomware incidents witnessed a 10.43% decline, largely due to law enforcement interventions against major ransomware groups. Dark web marketplace listings also showed a 12.93% decrease in overall operations, indicating potential changes in cybercriminal strategies.
Other notable discoveries from the report include:
- 14,273,495 exploitation events were identified, reflecting a 21.07% increase from Q1. Important contributors were Web Server File Access attempts and attacks focusing on the Log4j and Hikvision Camera vulnerabilities.
- While ransomware incidents decreased by 10.43%, attributed to law enforcement actions against entities like LockBit, Play Ransomware activities rose, emphasizing the dynamic nature of the ransomware landscape.
- Despite an overall 12.93% reduction in dark web activities, specific listings saw significant spikes:
