The majority of Americans are worried about the increase in fraud

A study conducted by Abrigo indicates that 90% of Americans are experiencing concerns over a potential rise in fraud. Of those worried individuals, 51% are extremely worried and 39% are somewhat worried.

45% of those surveyed admit to being victims of financial fraud. The most commonly reported forms of fraud include:

  1. Credit card theft (53%)
  2. Electronic payment fraud (19%)
  3. Check fraud (17%)

Survey respondents expressed apprehension regarding internet scams, identity theft, and money laundering. 71% shared concerns about money laundering, with 45% somewhat worried and 26% extremely worried.

Furthermore, Americans are worried about the potential impact of AI on fraud. 68% are worried about the possibility of fraud increasing due to advancements in AI technology, with 74% believing that AI technology will enhance the success of fraud attempts.
