
Technology advancements are compromising personal identities.
A recent report by CyberArk analyzed identity and vulnerability management. The report revealed that 93% of organizations experienced two or more identity-related breaches in the past year. Machine identities were identified as the primary cause of identity growth and were perceived as the riskiest identity type by respondents.
Organizations are anticipating a threefold increase in identities over the next 12 months, with 50% of organizations expecting growth. While 61% of organizations define privileged users as exclusively human, 38% classify all human and machine identities with sensitive access as privileged users.
Furthermore, the report highlighted that 84% of organizations plan to utilize three or more Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) in the upcoming year. Nearly all organizations (99%) are incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into their cybersecurity defense initiatives.
Despite this, 93% of respondents foresee AI-powered tools posing a cyber risk to their organization within the next year. The report also indicated that over 70% of organizations are confident in their employees’ ability to detect deepfakes of their leadership. Phishing or vishing attacks have caused successful identity-related breaches in 90% of organizations.
The report revealed that up to 50% of all machine identities have access to sensitive data, compared to about half of human identities. With the increasing number of machine identities accessing sensitive data, 49% of respondents view them as the riskiest identity type.
