Cloud adoption and enterprise cybersecurity were examined in a recent report and survey conducted by Nutanix. The report for this year indicates a projected doubling of hybrid multicloud model utilization over the next one to three years, as IT decision makers find themselves under new pressures to modernize their IT infrastructures due to factors like AI, security, and sustainability.

As organizations continue to face challenges in moving applications and data across different environments, the report emphasized the increasing significance of hybrid multicloud infrastructure. It was discovered that security and innovation were the primary reasons for transferring applications between environments in the past year. With AI taking center stage in businesses, respondents have recognized the need for increased investments in supporting AI strategy as their main priority, closely followed by investments in IT modernization.

Hybrid multicloud infrastructure deployments are set to become a standard in infrastructure. Ninety percent of respondents are adopting a “cloud smart” approach to their infrastructure strategy. Given the widespread adoption of this approach, it is not surprising that hybrid and multicloud environments have become the standard for infrastructure. Additionally, over 80% of organizations believe that hybrid IT environments are most beneficial for managing applications and data. Importantly, this has now become a top priority for executives, with nearly half of respondents identifying the implementation of hybrid IT as a top priority for their CIO.

Ransomware protection is a major concern for CXOs and practitioners, but many organizations are still struggling in the aftermath of attacks. Ransomware and malware attacks will continue to pose significant threats to modern enterprises, with the ongoing battle between malicious actors and enterprise security professionals expected to persist through 2024. However, data protection and recovery remain challenging, as 71% of respondents who experienced a ransomware attack reported that it took days or even weeks to fully restore operations. To address this challenge, 78% of organizations plan to increase investments in ransomware protection solutions this year.
