
In the past year, account takeover affected 83% of organizations
A survey from Abnormal Security reveals that account takeovers are a significant threat. After surveying 300 security professionals from different industries and organizations, the report discovered that 83% of organizations reported experiencing at least one account takeover in the past year. Additionally, 45.5% of organizations had more than five account takeover incidents, with almost one in five experiencing over 10. According to the survey, 77% of security leaders consider an account takeover to be one of the top four security concerns for their organization.
The survey also identified the cloud applications security stakeholders are most worried about being compromised, including:
- File and storage sharing services like Box and Dropbox.
- Cloud infrastructure services including Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and Amazon Web Services.
- Business email accounts such as Gmail and Microsoft Outlook.
- Contract and document management software like Docusign.
