Headway appoints Susan Chiang as Chief Information Security Officer
Meet Susan Chiang, the newly appointed Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Headway, a prominent mental health organization. With a wealth of experience in technology, security, and strategy from her tenure at companies like Cloudflare, Uber, and Salesforce, as well as healthcare consulting expertise from Deloitte, Chiang is set to lead a team dedicated to enhancing data privacy and security, engineering, and IT at Headway. Her goal is to establish Headway as the most reliable platform for mental health care providers and their patients.
Recent reports from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services indicate a concerning increase in cybersecurity incidents within the healthcare sector. The department noted a staggering 93% rise in large breaches reported between 2018 and 2022, emphasizing the urgency of prioritizing investments in security and privacy. These findings come at a crucial moment as Headway expands its services to include Medicare Advantage and Medicaid plans.
Prior to her role at Headway, Chiang served as Acting Chief Security Officer at Cloudflare, renowned for its expertise in security and data privacy. At Cloudflare, she was responsible for overseeing Security operations, engineering, and technical program management. Earlier in her career, Chiang held a position on the security leadership team at Uber and gained valuable experience in technology and healthcare consulting at Deloitte.
Outside of her professional achievements, Chiang is a dedicated advocate for promoting diversity and inclusion in the security industry, particularly for women and underrepresented groups. Her efforts were recognized when she was honored as a Women in IT Security Advocate by SC Media in 2023. A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, Chiang is based in San Francisco.
Congratulations to Susan Chiang on her new role at Headway!
