Florida Pediatric Associates experiences health data breach

Florida Pediatric Associates (FPA) has disclosed that a data breach at Bowden Barlow Law may have impacted FPA health information. Fortunately, FPA’s systems were not affected as the breach was contained within Bowden Barlow’s environment.

On December 27, 2023, Bowden Barlow notified FPA of a potential data security incident, indicating that certain patient data from FPA may have been accessed without authorization. The extent of the breach’s impact on FPA data was initially unknown. However, FPA’s investigation on February 9, 2024, revealed that some patient and guarantor information was indeed compromised.

On March 28, 2024, FPA reached out to potentially affected individuals to inform them of the incident and provide support resources. The data that may have been exposed includes names, dates of birth, account numbers, Social Security numbers, health insurance details, claims information, and treatment records.
