Fear of Data Breach Leading to Job Loss among 99% of CISOs
Recent analysis by Portnox revealed that Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) are concerned about their positions in the event of a breach. The report found that 99% of CISOs fear losing their jobs if a breach occurs, with 77% expressing extreme worry.
Despite the widespread use of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) in security strategies, 85% of CISOs are anxious that it is not effectively countering increasingly sophisticated attacks. Issues like password fatigue, insider threats, and phishing attacks are common. Implementing passwordless authentication is seen as a strong security measure, but only 7% of organizations have fully adopted it due to cost, complexity, and employee resistance.
Every CISO surveyed (100%) agreed that Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) has not fully delivered on its promises, with many organizations still in the early stages of implementation. The ever-changing compliance requirements, like NIS2 regulations, overwhelm 90% of CISOs, making it challenging to ensure continual compliance.
Around 58% of CISOs are uncertain about whether their cyber insurance policies adequately cover critical threats such as supply chain attacks, leaving many organizations vulnerable to significant risks. Despite the obstacles, 86% of CISOs are steadfast in their efforts to prevent breaches, though they acknowledge that their current defenses may not be sufficient against advanced threats.
