Nevada leads in financial losses due to cybercrime

The impact of cybercrime on finances was examined by NoDepositRewards using data from the FBI crime report. According to the findings, Nevada was identified as the state experiencing the greatest financial loss due to cybercrime. Nevada reported a total loss of $6,286,710.72 per 100,000 residents, with 7,198 individuals falling victim to cybercrime and an average monetary loss of $27,897.83 per victim.

The states with the highest financial losses due to cybercrime were ranked as follows:

  • California had a total loss of $5,535,081.99 per 100,000 people. There were 51,319 victims of cybercrime in California, with an average loss of $42,026.45 per victim.
  • New Jersey reported a total loss of $4,744,902.86 per 100,000 citizens. In New Jersey, 9,978 individuals experienced cybercrime with an average financial loss of $44,181.34.
  • Arizona experienced a total loss of $4,360,097.73 per 100,000 residents, with 13,186 victims and an average loss of $24,572.57 per person.
  • Alaska reported a total loss of $4,329,852.50 per 100,000 people, with 1,267 victims and an average loss of $25,063.46 per victim.
  • Montana saw a total loss of $4,021,115.77 per 100,000 citizens, with 1,316 victims and an average loss of $34,613.74 per person.
  • South Dakota had a total loss of $3,899,509.20 per 100,000 residents, with 784 victims and an average loss of $45,725.63 per victim.
  • Utah reported a total loss of $3,867,064.11 per 100,000 people, with 4,163 victims and an average financial loss of $31,747.77 per victim.
  • Florida followed closely in ninth place, with a total loss of $3,864,683.83 per 100,000 citizens. In Florida, 32,638 individuals experienced cybercrime with an average loss of $26,773.49 per victim.
  • Finally, New York concluded the list with a total loss of $3,824,820.44 per 100,000 residents. The state reported 21,313 victims of cybercrime with an average financial loss of $35,122.41 per victim.
