49% of organizations feel moderately prepared to manage a breach
A recent report by CDW analyzed cybersecurity readiness. According to the report, 88% of respondents are somewhat (50%) or very (38%) confident in their visibility into their cybersecurity posture. Of those feeling very confident, 61% found that identity and access management (IAM) solutions were very effective in enhancing their visibility. However, despite this confidence, 49% of respondents still only feel somewhat prepared to handle a breach.
One key aspect of cybersecurity strategy is zero trust. The survey revealed that over 41% of respondents have reached an advanced level of maturity in their zero trust journey, although only 12% feel they have achieved an optimal level. Additionally, more than 43% of respondents reported experiencing a breach costing between $1 million and $10 million in downtime.
The report also highlighted that insufficient or ineffective employee cybersecurity training (31%) and budgetary resources (27%) are two major gaps in respondents’ cybersecurity approach. When it comes to justifying funding, 76% of respondents noted that demonstrating the cost of a data breach was an effective method in making the case for additional investments in cybersecurity.
